Christmas 2012

This was supposed to be posted two months ago and now I can't find the photos to go with :( Oh well, its never to late to talk about Christmas right?!

This Christmas was especially special for me because it was the first Christmas for Drew to spend with us (he came over last year on Christmas Day for the family tree but this year he spent the night Christmas Eve with Patrick and I at Mom and Nana's house).

We were abundantly blessed with more than we needed on Christmas but we had a wonderful time together with family. We missed Ryan, Darrah, Paige and Peyton tremendously!

On Christmas Eve, after a long day of running frantic errands Drew and I went to Mom and Nana's to hunker down for Christmas. I brought a chicken and rice to serve as soon as Patrick arrived. We had Doss and Aunt Charlotte over for dinner, and eggnog. After dinner I baked sugar cookies that Mom, Patrick, Drew and I decorated to our best abilities and then we all put on our matching pj's.

Christmas for a long time had lost it's magic for our family with all of our traditions going by the wayside as Gary mooched his way in but for the last two years we have been blessed with the Christmas magic that we grew up having. This is very much thanks to family, Aunt Tammy mostly who comes over Christmas Eve to set out our Santa presents and spend weeks with Mom helping pick out the perfect gifts for us.  Neeley put it extra efforts this year too to take mom shopping! It is so very much appreciated as we are able to enjoy traditions and special time with Mom on Christmas!

After a Mario Kart battle Drew settled on the couch as Patrick and I took the guest bedrooms. I was the first to wake up Christmas morning, SHOCKER! at 7:50. I went to wake Patrick first because I knew he would be more apt to get up and out of bed quicker. Drew was next up as I began to turn on Johnny Mathis Christmas (a tradition) and start the coffee.  I had the brilliant idea of ringing the doorbell to wake Mom and Nana up as we were quarantined at the front of the house and they were in the back... it worked as the dogs began barking Mom and Nana came out for us to get to our presents. Again I say we were all blessed beyond words.

After a great Christmas brunch, some relaxing, and snacks Aunt Tammy and Kelsey came over quickly followed by Doss, Charlotte and Neeley and Lane. We had a great time opening our family tree together and celebrating in hand picked gifts for each person. It was a truly wonderful Christmas spent with family!

Drew exclaimed several times it was his "best Christmas ever!"
